A- League Galas - Rules & Entry Procedure
Swimming South Africa Rules apply.
Only swimmers registered with Swimming South Africa and
Eastern Province Aquatics 14 days prior to the gala will be allowed to compete.
A swimmer's age is taken as on the day of the gala.
Individual Events
Age Groups: 10 & Under, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 & Over.
A swimmer may ONLY compete in his/her age group.
Long Distance Events
200m Butterfly, 400m Individual Medley, 800m and 1500m Freestyle.
Age Groups: 12-14 and 15 & Over.
11 & Under may participate in these events, but their times will not be
submitted to SSA.
Relays
Age Groups: 10 & Under, 11-12, 13-14, 15 & Over.
Swimmers may swim up in age and only in one age group per event.
Teams must be finalised 1(one) hour prior to the event.
Swimmers must swim in order as entered.
Only registered swimmers may compete in relay teams.
All events will be swim as timed finals with heats
mixed (boys and girls together), unless specified in the programme. They
will be seeded according to entry times.
Heats will be swim SLOWEST to FASTEST.
Entries
All entries must be done on Team Manager.
No faxed or individual entries will be accepted.
Gala Secretaries must ensure that all entries, reach the Provincial Data
Officer (PDO), Mrs Jill Plumstead, on a date that will be submitted to the
Gala Secretary.
Fees
The relevant fees must be sent to the Treasurer on or before the closing
date or deposited into the Eastern
Province Aquatics banking account and the deposit slip
faxed to the Treasurer at 086 654 9967 or
041 - 364 0487.
Please ensure that you quote a reference on your deposit slip or
fax message.
Individual Events
R 12.00 per event
Relays
R 30.00 per relay
Take note of the fee structure below
Friday 20h00 +/- one(1) week before the gala -
Normal Entry Fee.
Wednesday 17h00 +/- 3 days before the gala -
3 x Normal Entry Fee.
At the gala - ONLY IF A LANE IS AVAILABLE
- 10 x Normal Entry Fee.
Scratchings
Scratchings Swimmers wishing to scratch from events may
do so up to HALF AN HOUR (30 minutes) before the start of
the RELEVANT SESSION, by completing the official "scratching form" at the
Records Office.
Only Team Manager / Coaches will be allowed to do the
scratchings.
Races will be announced but no swimmer will be called
individually to report for an event.
Swimmers wishing to claim records MUST do so
immediately after the race at the Record Office.
Swimmers / Managers / Coaches are urged to notify the Chief Timekeeper and
the Referee if they feel that a record time may be swum.
In doing so this will avoid the disappointment of a record not being
ratified due to the fact that there were not three (3) Registered
timekeepers on the lane in the event of the ETD malfunctioning.
The ONE START rule will apply.
Only registered swimmers already entered in individual
events at the meet may compete in relay teams.
The swimmers age and South African ID number must be submitted on the relay
entry form.
Failure to swim in the order listed may result in disqualification.
Substitution may be made up to the start of the relay event only in the case
of a team member becoming ill and at the discretion of the Gala Referee.
The Referee's decision is final and in accordance with
FINA rules.
Protests must be submitted in writing with the
R100.00 deposit to the Meet Referee within THIRTY (30) minutes of
the incident in question.
The Meet Referee's decision will be final.
