- Only swimmers registered with
Swimming South Africa may take part in the Eastern
Province Championships, provided that:
They have swum the set
qualifying times, as indicated on the programme next to
the event, for the event they wish to enter.
There will be no qualifying times for 10 & Under
events.
Times swim in a 50m pool will be taken from 1 January 2009.
No adjusted times will be accepted.
These times have been submitted to the PDO and
are on the database and the provincial database will
override the entry times.
- A Swimmer's age is taken on the
first day of the Championships - 04 December 2009.
Individual Events:
Age
Groups: 10 & Under, 11-12, 13-14, 15 &
Over.
A swimmer may ONLY compete in his/her age group.
Relays:
Under 14 & Open only - 2 teams per club in each
relay.
- All entries to be done on Team
Manager. No faxed or individual entries will be
accepted.
Gala Secretaries must ensure that all entries reach the
Provincial Data Officer (PDO), Mrs Jill Plumstead, by no
later than 20h00 on 20 November 2009.
- Fees
The relevant fees must be sent to the Treasurer by no
later than 21 November 2009 or deposited into the
Eastern Province Aquatics banking account and the
deposit slip faxed to the Treasurer at 086 654 9967 or
041 - 364 0487.
Please ensure that you quote a reference on your deposit
slip or fax message.
Individual Events: R 15.00 per event
Relays: R 50.00 per relay
If entry fees are not received by the 12h00 on the 23
November 2009, entries will be
returned.
Entries received between 20 November 2009 and
27 November 2009 will be liable to 5 times
the normal fee. No entries will be accepted after 27
November 2009. at 20h00.
NO ENTRIES WILL BE
ACCEPTED AT THE POOL.
- All events will be swum as
seeded finals. They will be seeded according to times.
Slowest heats will be swum
first.
- Scratchings
a)
Swimmers wishing to scratch from events may do so up to
HALF AN HOUR (30 minutes) before the start of the
RELEVANT SESSION, by completing the official "scratching
form" at the Records Office. Only Team Managers will be
allowed to do the scratchings.
b) Swimmers who do not scratch and fail to swim an
event will be disqualified from the next individual
event he/she has entered OR have the option of paying a
R50.00 fine. If the fine has been paid the swimmer will
be permitted to swim the next event. If it is the
swimmer's last event a R50.00 fine will be imposed.
c) Presentation of a medical certificate or good
cause shown will over-rule a & b above.
Scratching will only be
accepted if signed by the Team Manager or Coach.
- Races will be announced but no
swimmer will be called individually to report for an
event.
- Medals will be presented to the
first three (3) swimmers in each event, providing their
finishing times are with the Qualifying Time.
- The Championship trophies will
be awarded to the swimmer who has recorded the fastest
time in a specific event, irrespective of his/her age
group.
- Swimmers wishing to claim
records MUST do so immediately after the race at the
Records Office.
- Swimmers / Managers / Coaches
are urged to notify the Chief Timekeeper and the Referee
if they feel that a record time may be swum. In doing so
this will avoid the disappointment of a record not being
ratified due to the fact that there were not three
REGISTERED timekeepers on the lane in the event of the
ETD malfunctioning.
- The ONE START rule will apply.
- Medal winners must present
themselves neatly attired in Club uniform and on time
for all medal presentation.
- Only registered swimmers
already entered in the Championships may compete in
relay teams. The swimmers age and SA Identity Number
must be submitted on the relay entry form. Failure to
swim in the order listed may result in disqualification.
Substitution may be made up to the start of the relay
event only in the cast of a team member becoming ill and
at the discretion of the Gala Referee.
- The Referee's decision is final
and in accordance with FINA rules.
- Protests must be submitted in
writing with the R100.00 deposit to the Meet Referee
within 30 minutes of the incident in question. The Meet
Referee's decision will be final.
