'C' Age Group Galas - Rules & Entry Procedure
We would like to welcome you to the start of the 2009/2010 Swimming
Season.
We sincerely hope that this season we will see many more swimmers
participating in our ‘C’ & ‘B’ Age group galas.
I will start by explaining some of the rules and procedures pertaining
to these very exciting and important galas.
Please note that Eastern Province Aquatics will be sponsoring the sweets
and certificates.
These galas are held at various school pools in Port Elizabeth. I
have attached the dates and the venues for these galas. Your school may
swim at any of the venues that you prefer.
- Swimmers only swim 25m in
all 4 strokes.
- The age groups are:
8/under, 9, 10, 11 and 12
years old. The age of the swimmer is age on the
day of the gala.

Entries: Swimmers must enter
through their school; individual entries will also be accepted at
the pool side up to half an hour prior to the start of the gala.

Entry fees: R5.00 per swimmer
– irrespective of the number of events swum.

Time Cards:
Copies attached must be completed for EACH event.

PLEASE USE THE CORRECT TIME CARD AND WE
REQUEST THAT THE CORRECT NAME OF THE SWIMMER BE PRINTED CLEARLY.

Only swimmers up to the age of 12 may
participate.

Certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and
3rd place in each age group and each stroke at all venues.

Results will be e-mailed to the participating Schools.
Unfortunately we are not able to e-mail to each and every parent.

No Eastern Province representative may participate at this
level.

NB. If a swimmer has
previously participated in a B Age Group Gala they may NOT
participate in a C Age Group Gala.
'B' Age Group Galas - Rules & Entry Procedure
Due to an extremely full programme this season we will only be
having 2 ‘B’ League galas.
The first ‘B’ League Gala will take place on 21st November 2009 at the
Uitenhage Swimming Pool.
The second ‘B’ League Gala will take place on 13th February 2010 at the
Newton Park Swimming Pool.
THESE GALAS ARE FOR PRIMARY & HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMERS.
- Swimmers must be able to swim 50m. All
Strokes will be swum.

The age groups are: 8/under, 9, 10, 11, 12,
13, 14 and 15/Over.

For the 15 & Over – results will be shown in
these ages 15-16 and17 and over.
- ENTRIES: Once again we will be using
pre-entries as per last season.
- The swimmers times will be
put on the EPA database which will make it easier when selecting the
TOP 8 winners as well as Provincial teams for SA National galas.

The schools will be required to fill in a
competitor’s list.
a) Name of Swimmer - as per Birth Certificate
b) Gender (B / G)
c) Ethnic Group (for statistic purposes)
d) Date of Birth + Age (age on day of gala)
e) Strokes the Swimmer wishes to participate in
- The completed forms must be forwarded to:
epaquatics.pdo@gmail.com
or weslor@telkomsa.net or
faxed to 086 654 9967 – by no later than 1 week prior to the gala.
- NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE POOL SIDE.
NO ENTRY NO SWIM!
You will no longer be required to fill in time cards. The swimmer's
name will be on an official program and they will swim according to
the programme.
- THERE WILL BE NO LATE ENTRIES.
If you arrive at a gala and your swimmer has NOT been entered they
will not be allowed to participate.
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO THE PARENTS
- ENTRY FEES:

R15.00 per swimmer – irrespective of the number of events swum

Once a swimmer has been entered – they will be liable for the
R15.00 fee. No refunds for withdrawals.

Certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Swimmers do not have to be registered with EP Aquatics.

Results will be e-mailed to the participating
school and NOT to individual parents. Results will also be
available on this site.
Top Eight Gala
Medals and Ribbons will be sponsored by Eastern Province Aquatics.
Please note that the Newton Park Pool will only have 8 lanes.
This prestigious gala will be held on 13th March 2010 at the Newton
Park Swimming Pool.
- The top eight girls and boys in each age
group – 8/under, 9, 10,11,12, 13, 14 and 15 – 16 and 17 and Over, in
each stroke will be invited to participate at this gala.
- The swimmers’ times will be drawn from the
results of the 2 B Age Group Galas.
- Age will be as at the date of the LAST B AGE
GROUP GALA.
- Any swimmer who has represented the Province
as an individual (School or Club) or has achieved a Level 2
qualifying time, (this qualifying time applies to registered
swimmers ONLY) IN THE CURRENT SEASON will NOT be invited to
participate.
- Competitors will be advised through their
schools.
- Medals will be awarded to the first three
places and ribbons to the finalists (4th - 8th place).
- There is a Victor/Victrix Ludorum Floating
Trophy which will also be awarded.
- TROPHIES: Two Beetle Trophies will
be awarded.
- The School with the most number of
participants at the Top Eight Gala will be awarded a Beetle Trophy.
- The second trophy will be awarded to the school with the most
participants at both B Age Group Galas.
Eastern Province Aquatic Executive Committee would like to
express their sincere thanks to the Principals and Swimming Coaches of the
hosting schools for their co-operation in organising the C Age Group
galas and allowing us the use of their facilities.
We would be most grateful if all the participating school could
provide us with 2 or more officials at each B Age Group Gala and at the
Top 8.
