Schools Swimming Info for Teachers and Coaches
We would like to welcome you to the start of the
2010/2011 Swimming Season.
We sincerely hope that this season we will see many more swimmers participating in our C & B Age
Group galas.
Please take careful note of the basic rules and procedures pertaining to these very exciting and important galas.
We are extremely excited to have obtained a sponsorship for the B-Age Group and the Top 8 Galas namely 'SECOND SKINS'.
C-Age Group Galas
These galas are held at various school pools in Port Elizabeth.
Your school may swim at any of the venues that you prefer.
Swimmers only swim 25m in all 4 strokes.
The age groups are: 8 and Under, 9, 10, 11 and 12 years old.
The age of the swimmer is age on the day of the gala.
Please note: There are no Butterfly events for the 8 & Under and 9 year old swimmers.
Entries: Swimmers must enter through their school; individual entries will also be accepted at the pool side up to half an hour prior to the start of the gala.
Entry fees: R10.00 per swimmer - irrespective of the number of events swum.
Time Cards: These must be completed for each event.
PLEASE USE THE CORRECT TIME CARD AND WE REQUEST THAT THE CORRECT NAME OF THE SWIMMER BE PRINTED CLEARLY.
Only swimmers up to the age of 12 may participate.
Certificates will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age group and each stroke.
Results will be e-mailed to the participating Schools. Unfortunately we are not able to e-mail to each and every parent.
Results are also posted on this website.
No Eastern Province representative or A-League Swimmers may participate at this level.
NB. If a swimmer has previously participated in a B Age Group Gala they may NOT participate in a C Age Group Gala.
'Second Skins' B-Age Group Galas
These galas are for Primary and High School Swimmers.
All 4 galas will be held at the Newton Park Indoor Swimming Pool.
Swimmers must be able to swim 50m. All Strokes will be swum.
The age groups are: 8 and Under, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15
and Over.
Please note: There are no Butterfly events for the 8 & Under and 9 year old swimmers.
For the 15 and Over - results will be shown as 15-16 and 17 and
Over.
ENTRIES: As per last season we will once again be using the electronic timing device (ETD).
The swimmers will be put on the EPA data base which will make it much easier when selecting the TOP 8 swimmers as well as the Provincial Schools Team for the SA National Schools Competition.
The schools will be required to fill in a competitor's list.
a) Name of Swimmer - as per Birth Certificate
b) Gender (B/G)
c) Ethnic Group (for statistic purposes)
d) Date of Birth plus Age (age on day of gala)
e) Strokes the Swimmer wishes to participate in
The completed forms must be forwarded to:

If you wish to do your entries on TM 5 Lite, as some schools did last season, you must please contact Jill Plumstead 079 505 3710 or e-mail her on jill@plumzone.com.
Team Manager 5 Lite is free to download and use, and was designed for schools. Once you have contacted Jill she will e-mail you a TM Back up file and instructions on how to do your entries.
This method worked extremely well and saved an enormous amount of time when doing the programme.
No Entries will Will Be Accepted at the Pool Side - No Entry ~~~~~~~ No Swim
You will no longer be required to fill in time cards.
The swimmer's name will be on an official program and they will swim according to the programme.
If you arrive at a gala and your swimmer has NOT been entered they will not be allowed to participate.
Please pass this information on to the parents.
ENTRY FEES:
R20.00 per swimmer - irrespective of the number of events swum.
Once a swimmer has been entered - they will be liable for the R20.00 fee.
No refunds for withdrawals.
Certificates will be awarded to the first 3 places
Swimmers do not have to be registered with EP Aquatics.
Results will be e-mailed to the participating schools and NOT to individual parents.
The results will be updated on this site as soon as possible.
Second Skins Top 8 Gala
Medals and Ribbons will be sponsored by 'Second Skins'
This prestigious gala will be held on 12th March 2011 at the
Newton Park Swimming Pool.
The top eight girls and boys in each age group - 8 and Under, 9,
10,11,12, 13, 14 and 15 - 16 and 17 and Over, in each stroke
will be invited to participate at this gala.
The swimmers times will be drawn from the results of the 4 B-Age Group Galas.
Age will be as at the date of the last B-Age Group Gala.
Any swimmer who has represented the Province as an individual
(School or Club) or has achieved a Level 2 qualifying time, in the current season will NOT be invited to participate.
Participants will be advised through their schools.
Medals will be awarded to the first three places and ribbons to
the finalists (4th - 8th place).
There is a Victor / Victrix Ludorum Floating Trophy which will
also be
awarded.
The two beetle trophies will also be awarded, one to the school with the most swimmers at all 4 B-Age Group galas and the second to the school with the most number of participants at the Top 8 Gala.
In order for Eastern Province Aquatics to run these galas successfully we request that all participating schools provide 2 officials or more at each B Age Group gala and at the TOP 8 gala.
