Boost for EP with launch of new series.
Open water swimming in the Eastern Cape got a further boost over the
weekend with the launch of the inuagral EP open water swimming series
which kicked off on Sunday at the pristine canals of Marina Martinique.
Consisting of six race days this season, the Series will take place on a
monthly basis in the Marina which offers ideal open water swimming
conditions.
The Series will consist of a 1km, 3km, 5km and 10km swim and is aimed at
attracting social swimmers into the open water environment to boost the
provincial age groups teams, in particular the Masters teams.
Michael Marais dominated the events on Sunday morning, winning the 5km
and 1km events.
The next event in the Series will be taking place over the
weekend
21/22 November.
