Liss back in winning form
The 4th SASKO A-League gala was held earlier in the month at the new Newton Park Aquatics Centre.
Jessica Liss, who turned 15 recently and swims for Aquabear Swim Club, broke the only individual record of the meet in the girls' 15u 200m butterfly record in a time of 2:24:29, bettering team-mate Michaela Barnes' record by 2min 39 sec.
Team records were broken in the girls 16 and under 4x100m freestyle and the 4x50m medley relays by the Aquabear team of Robyn Charter, Erin Graham, Genna Greevelink and Liss.
Christopher Reid (Aquabear) was again the star with 6 wins out of 6 races in the 14u age group. 12-year old Alida de Jager (Karoly) excelled with 5 golds as did Aquabear's 11-year old Caitlin van der Berg and 17 year old Wayne Jones and Rupert Kieser.
PEA Swimmers Ricky King (8) and Christopher Engelbrecht (9) grabbed 4 golds in the 10u age group.
The prestigious Eastern Province Championships will take place from December 10 to 12 at the Newton Park Complex.
